Huawei hasn’t always been the best when it comes to software, both in terms of its skin and reliability of system updates. However, along with a massive overhaul to its UI on the Huawei Mate 9, the company appears to be pushing Android Nougat to a few of its devices just a bit quicker than usual.

The new EMUI 5.0, Huawei claims, is more efficient, secure, and user friendly. It "significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function," the company says in a press release, adding that "furthermore, the user can reach 90% of the core functions in just two to three clicks."

The devices that will update to EMUI 5.0 (Android 7.0 Nougat) include the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei nova and the Huawei nova Plus. Some publications have noted that the Huawei Mate S is not among those scheduled to receive an Android 7.0 update.

It’s also worth noting that this list doesn’t include Honor devices since those updates are managed by Honor. We already know the Huawei Honor 8 will be updated over the coming weeks, and the Honor 5X will also likely get Nougat.
