Asus launched the Zenfone 3 smartphone in late May this year, which will be released globally in Q3 of this year. The Huawei offering will have to face competition from the recently launched Huawei Honor 8, which has impressive specs.

Screen
The Honor 8 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. The Asus Zenfone 3 has a slightly bigger 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen, which packs in the same pixels as the Huawei device.

Processor, RAM And Storage
An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz powers the Zenfone 3. On the other hand, the Honor 8 has a 2.3 GHz Kirin 950 chipset.

The Zenfone 3 is available with 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB / 64 GB internal storage options. The Honor 8 is available in three models: 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM.

Both the Zenfone 3 and Honor 8 support microSD card, which can be used for expanding the storage capacity up to an additional 128 GB.

Battery
The Zenfone 3 as well as the Honor 8 are fueled by a 3,000 mAh battery.

Camera
The Asus smartphone is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. The 12-megapixel duo camera setup on the Honor 8 gives it an edge over the Zenfone 3. Both the mobile phones have an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The Zenfone 3 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Asus ZenUI 3.0. The Honor 8 comes running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1 UI.

Fingerprint Scanner
Both the Zenfone 3 and Honor 8 have fingerprint scanners, which improve the security of the devices.

Price
The Asus offering has a starting price tag of $249 while the base model of the Honor 8 is expected to cost $300.

The specs of the Zenfone 3 and Honor 8 are competing neck and neck. However, customers looking for a cheaper option with a bigger screen may opt for the Asus Zenfone 4 instead of the Honor 8.
