Details on the Huawei Mate 9 smartphone are hitting the web, a whole month before the device’s probable November 3 unveiling. This morning, Huawei has been sending out “save-the-dates” for a press event to be held in Munich, but while this has been taking place, specs and renders of the device have been posted onto Weibo. The internet sure does know how to spoil the fun.

Huawei Mate 9

If the latest leak is anything to go by, it appears the Mate 9 will very much look like its predecessor, the Huawei Mate 8. That's to say we're likely to see a slightly rounded, wide, all-metal rear with parallel antenna bands running horizontally near the top and the bottom edges.

The dual camera system will sit near the top, with the two lenses sitting vertically, rather than side-by-side horizontally like the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus. On either side of the camera system, there's a dual LED flash and a laser sensor for autofocusing, while the round fingerprint scanner sits underneath.

We've been seeing a lot of leaks lately, including the pricing info and other details for the three models. They will range from $480/€430 for the base 4GB/64GB model and go up to $700/€630 for the top 6GB/256GB model. A dual camera, Android 7.0 Nougat and a large 6" screen are in order.

While we don't know for sure how much it will cost here, it's clear that the next Mate series phone isn't aimed at the budget/affordable end of the market. This is a high-end huawei phone with a premium price. Best start saving now if you're certain you want one already.
