Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei announced that global shipments of its Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus smartphones crossed the 10 million mark, making them Huawei's first flagship series to hit the milestone.

Since it achieved such good results in 2015, Huawei's target for 2016 was raised to 140 million shipped phones. And the company's senior VP, Yu Chengdong, has now confirmed that this target has been reached. Since the flagship P9 was at 9 million shipments in November, it's easy to assume that, since Huawei has hit its 140-million mark, the P9 and P9 Plus have passed the 10 million shipments milestone as well. The company expects its Huawei Mate 9 flagship duo to sell around 12 million devices internationally before it is replaced by its successors in 2017.

All in all, this has been quite a successful year for this China-based smartphone manufacturer, and it will be interesting to see if they can improve upon it in 2017. Huawei actually plans to trump Apple by 2018 and become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, which means they’ll need to keep on growing next year as well. All in all, it will be interesting to see how many smartphones is Huawei P10 planning to sell in 2017.
