The Huawei P9 is finally set to get a taste of Android 7.0 Nougat soon, as the update will roll out by the end of the month.

This tweet was posted alongside an image which came with the statement, “Get ready to twiddle thumbs better on your Huawei P9”, likely meaning that Android 7.0 Nougat will provide a faster and better user experience. Once the global rollout commences, Huawei P9 users can expect to receive EMUI 5.0, which is Huawei’s custom user interface, and also one of the latest versions from the company, with the latest version being EMUI 5.1.

EMUI 5.0 is among the latest versions of the company's custom user interface. Oddly enough, it's not the very latest EMUI 5.1, but it's still based on Nougat and should bring a pretty sweet experience. The update package is also expected to include the latest Android security patch from Google for the month of March.

When the Huawei P9 was first announced last year, it came off as a pretty high-end smartphone, and still is to this day. It packs a 5.2-inch FHD 2.5D display, and is powered by a Kirin 955 processor. Graphics are handled by the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Under the hood, it packs 3GB of RAM coupled with 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

Huawei even launched the Huawei Mate 9, Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus in the meantime, which runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but the older Huawei P9 still packs a punch and should get a significant boost with the upcoming software bump.
