Even as the Huawei Honor 8 receives the Android Nougat update, it seems that the company is also thinking of launching the device's successor dubbed the Huawei Honor 9.

Huawei Honor 9

The source of this information is a listing on TENAA, which is the Chinese equivalent of the FCC. A mysterious Honor smartphone bearing the model number DUK-TL30 has been certified by TENAA, suggesting that its release is not far away. Since the listing does not reveal the name of the smartphone, but only its model number, it is not confirmed whether the device is the Honor 9 or Huawei Honor V9 or some other handset under this brand name.

It is expected that this upcoming Honor 9 mobile device would be an enhancement over its predecessor the Honor 8. Per leaks, this Honor handset shall be equipped with an octa-core processor clocked a 2.4GHz and will possess Kirin 960 CPU compared to the Honor 8 version which had Kirin 950 chipset.

The anonymous handset will probably have a 5.7-inch Quad HD display based on the TENAA listing. This unannounced model shall house 6 GB of RAM and could tout on-board storage of  128 GB, which will be expandable to an additional 128 GB via a microSD card.

Huawei has an event scheduled on Feb. 26 at the MWC 2017, but whether this mysterious Honor device will be unveiled alongside the rumored Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus smartphones remains to be seen.
