Tech blog TechPP claims that OnePlus Mobile is considering launching an updated OnePlus X handset in late-2018, with a specific eye to securing a greater share of the Indian market.

OnePlus X2

The device will apparently feature a Snapdragon 835 SoC backed up by 4GB of RAM, and come available with either 32GB or 64GB of storage. On the front, the site’s “sources” say the phone will feature a 16-megapixel ‘selfie’ cam and Face Unlock technology, the rear of the phone will get an 8-megapixel shooter, 3000mAh battery.

The site pegs the phone to be released after the OnePlus 6 but in time for the holiday shopping season, so speculatively launching in Q3 or Q4. As it’s targeting India, pricing is provisionally set at Rs 15,000-17,000, so in the ~£200 category should it ever come to the UK.

While a OnePlus X2 isn’t a totally far-fetched proposition, we’re seasoning this particular report with a hefty amount of salt. TechPP isn’t a site we’d heard of prior to these rumours, so it doesn’t really have a track record to speak of.
