As we all know, Xiaomi India is gearing up to take the wraps off their 2018’s first smartphone under some Redmi 5 series this Valentine’s day. Xiaomi has rolled out media invites to an event scheduled next week in New Delhi. While it was believed to be the Redmi 5, Techook has reliably learnt from a source close to Xiaomi that they will announce the Redmi Note 5 on February 14, followed by another phone announcement shortly thereafter, but not necessarily on 14th itself.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Xiaomi Mi 7 will allegedly sport a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. According to the report, the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, coupled with 3/ 4GB of RAM and 32/ 64GB of inbuilt storage options. The phone is expected to run MIUI 9 based on top of Android 8.0 Oreo.

In the camera department, the Redmi Note 5 Pro renders suggest a dual camera setup on the back. The phone will reportedly bear a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, better than Sricam Camera. On the front, there is expected to be an 8-megapixel sensor with 1080p video recording. Apart from that, a 4100mAh battery, with fast charging support, is rumoured to be present under the hood of the Redmi Note 5.

All hints point towards the Redmi Note 5 making its long awaited appearance this Valentine’s Day. So let’s gear up for the new all-rounder.
